Youth Theatre

Each class we focus on something new, exploring new characters and activities. These include improvisations, scripts, theatre games, radio plays, prop snippets, building scenes and much more.

We build self-esteem, performance skills and confidence through drama and theatre techniques.

Our programme for 11-18yrs is called DK Youth Theatre, with its own logo and t-shirts, ensuring students feel they have a more professional group.

The Autumn and Spring terms focus on building vital skills ahead of our summer production term. Students will work together with their class to create a staged performance at the theatre.

Children also have the opportunity to take part in Trinity Drama Exams and gain recognition for the skills they have learnt in class. This is an additional activity to our regular classes where students attend an exam session on a weekend. It doesn't require weekly 1-1 sessions and it's a great way to build confidence in an exam setting.

We also encourage students who wish to gain teaching experience to do their D of E award or work experience with us. We can show students what it's like to run a business, what it's like to create a theatre production and how to engage with younger children in class.
